Vaginal tightening Book a consultation Information and rates After childbirth or due to aging of the muscles around the vaginal area, the vagina may become looser or wider. This often leads to unpleasant symptoms such as reduced sensation during intercourse, a heavy feeling in the lower abdomen, and air loss from the vagina. What is vaginal tightening or vaginal narrowing? During a vaginal tightening or vaginal narrowing procedure, the vagina is made tighter by bringing the muscles and surrounding connective tissue at the entrance and within the vagina closer together. This enhances muscle control. The procedure is also referred to as a perineal correction, perineoplasty, or vaginal rejuvenation. This procedure is only possible if you have given birth. If the muscles and firm tissue of the vagina have been torn apart during childbirth, surgery can be performed to repair them. If someone has never given birth, there is nothing to repair. Have you never given birth but still experience a loose vagina? In that case, the muscles may be too weak. Pelvic physiotherapy could be a solution. Additionally, the quality of the tissue may be lower than usual. This can be frustrating, but it cannot be improved surgically. In some cases, treatment by a sexologist may also be helpful. What can I expect from a vaginal tightening procedure? After the procedure, your vagina will feel noticeably tighter. However, this does not always mean that your sensation during intercourse will change completely, as multiple factors influence this. For example, sensation during intercourse often decreases after menopause. It is also possible that your partner does not have an optimal erection or that you experience excessive lubrication during intercourse. Additionally, nerve endings around the vagina may have been damaged due to childbirth. Unfortunately, these issues cannot be resolved with vaginal tightening. How much does a vaginal tightening procedure cost? Vaginal tightening € 3520 Vaginal tightening + labiaplasty € 5035 These prices are all-inclusive: consultation, stitch removal, follow-up check, and, if necessary, additional aftercare. A complete overview of the prices for all our treatments can be found on our price list.Procedure How is a vaginal tightening procedure performed? The vagina can be surgically tightened in two different ways: Through vaginal entrance tightening Through vaginal tightening Vaginal entrance tightening In this procedure, the entrance and the vagina are tightened up to approximately 2-3 cm inward. The muscle around the vaginal entrance is also tightened. After the procedure, the vaginal entrance will no longer remain open, the entrance will feel tighter, and there will be more friction during intercourse. The surgery takes 40-50 minutes and can be performed under local anesthesia. Vaginal tightening In this procedure, the muscle around the vaginal entrance is tightened, and the vagina is tightened internally up to approximately 8 cm. Additionally, this procedure can correct a rectal prolapse. As a result, the vagina will remain less open, tampons will stay in place better, and the vagina will be tighter during intercourse. Problems with bowel movements and complaints of vaginal air loss will also be reduced. This surgery is particularly suitable if the entire length of the vagina has widened. The procedure takes 60 minutes and can be performed under local anesthesia. How does the procedure work? Upon arrival, you check in at the clinic’s reception. The doctor may have prescribed medication in advance, which you have already picked up from the pharmacy and brought with you. If prescribed, you will take the medication at the clinic and receive numbing cream along with instructions. Feel free to relax with a cup of coffee or tea and allow the cream about an hour to take effect, which is why we ask you to arrive an hour before your scheduled procedure. The assistant will then escort you from the waiting area to the treatment room, where you can remove your lower clothing. The medical team will be ready for you. You can take a seat in the chair, and the procedure will be briefly discussed. Feel free to take your time to ask any questions before the procedure begins. After the doctor has taken photos, you will be covered with a sterile drape and given a few small injections to locally numb the area. After the procedure, you will be moved to another room, where you will remain for an hour for observation. If everything is fine, you will be able to go home. Before and after Vaginal tightening + labiaplasty Vaginal tightening + labiaplasty + clitoral hood reduction Vaginal tightening Recovery and aftercare Recovery vaginal tightening Carefully following the aftercare instructions is essential for a smooth and speedy recovery. This includes avoiding intense physical activities for several weeks after the procedure. Although the procedure generally involves minimal complications, you may experience pain or discomfort afterward. It is important to have realistic expectations and be aware of the recovery process. Keep in mind that achieving the final result may take several months. You can go home on the same day of the procedure, but your vagina may remain sensitive and occasionally painful for up to two weeks. Aftercare vaginal tightening Bowel movements It is important to keep your stool soft during the initial recovery period to reduce pressure on the surgical area. You can purchase psyllium fibers (available at drugstores) to help with this. Additionally, some bleeding is expected in the first few weeks. You can use sanitary pads for this. Pain medication We recommend taking 2 Paracetamol (500 mg) tablets every 4-6 hours for the first few days after the procedure. Any additional medication or pain relief should be taken only as prescribed by your doctor. Cooling For the first few days, it is advisable to cool the area for 10-15 minutes every hour using an ice pack (which we provide) or a bag of frozen peas. Always place a gauze pad or clean cloth between the ice pack and your skin. Risks and complications As with any surgery, complications can occur after a vaginal tightening procedure. In rare cases, a wound may start bleeding again, or an infection may develop. If you have any concerns, always contact the clinic. Resting It is important to rest for the first few days. Ensure that someone is nearby to assist you if needed. We recommend staying in bed as much as possible for the first three days. Hygiene (showering & toilet use) After urinating, rinse the area briefly with water. You can shower with the stitches, but it is best to rinse the wound gently twice a day using the showerhead. Make sure the water is not too hot to prevent excessive bleeding. Avoid hot baths for the first six weeks. Exercise and physical activity We strongly advise against exercising or engaging in any strenuous physical activity for the first 4-6 weeks after the procedure. Work Heavy physical labor should be avoided for at least four weeks after the procedure. Menstruation We advise against using tampons for the first eight weeks after the procedure. Instead, use sanitary pads and rinse gently with the showerhead twice a day. Once the wound has healed, you may also use menstrual underwear, which absorbs menstrual blood and light urinary leakage, eliminating the need for tampons or pads. Moodies Undies offers a wide range of menstrual underwear. Sex We recommend avoiding sexual intercourse for the first 8 weeks after the procedure, as excessive friction can increase the risk of infection. The first few times you have sex after the procedure, you may experience some discomfort and light bleeding. To reduce the risk of small tears, you can massage the skin with Vaseline. We advise to use a lubricant during intercourse to make it more supple. Follow-up appointments Two weeks after the procedure, you will have your first follow-up appointment at the clinic, during which the stitches will be removed. After 5-6 months, you will return for your final check-up with your treating doctor. During this appointment, it will be determined whether the vaginal tightening has been successful or if any additional correction is needed. Vaginal tightening result The final results will be fully visible after 3 to 6 months. By this time, sensation will have fully returned, and the reattached muscles will have settled and become fully functional. After the procedure, your vagina will be noticeably tighter. However, this does not always mean that sensation during intercourse will completely change, as multiple factors influence this. For example, sensation during intercourse often decreases after menopause. Additionally, factors such as your partner’s erectile function, excessive vaginal lubrication, or nerve damage caused by childbirth can all affect sexual sensation. Unfortunately, these factors cannot be altered through a vaginal tightening procedure. The ability to achieve orgasm does not change after a vaginal tightening procedure. Additionally, urinary incontinence issues will also remain unaffected. If you would like more information on this, we are happy to provide further explanation during your consultation.
