Clitoral hood reduction Book a consultation Information and rates In addition to the outer labia and inner labia, the vulva also includes a clitoral hood (also known as the clitoral cap, clitoral cover, clitoral skin). When there is excess skin in this area, it can cause discomfort. Enlarged inner labia are often accompanied by excess skin on the clitoral hood. To maintain a balanced appearance between the inner labia and the clitoral hood, a clitoral hood reduction is often performed in combination with a labiaplasty. If the size, shape, or symmetry of your clitoral hood is not in proportion to your body or your inner labia, this may be bothersome. It can cause physical discomfort during walking, exercising, cycling, or sexual activity. It may also limit your sense of freedom, for example, when wearing swimwear at the pool or beach, engaging in sports that require tight clothing, or during intimate contact. How much does a clitoral hood reduction cost? Labiaplasty + clitoral hood reduction € 3250 Reduction / reconstruction clitoral hood € 2610 These prices are all-inclusive: consultation, stitch removal, follow-up check, and, if necessary, additional aftercare. A complete overview of the prices for all our treatments can be found on our price list. Small procedure In general, a clitoral hood reduction is a relatively minor procedure performed under local anesthesia. This means you will not be put under general anesthesia. The area is numbed before the procedure, so you will not feel anything during the treatment itself. The anesthesia will continue to work well after the procedure. After that, the area may feel painful for a few days. This pain can be reasonably well managed with Paracetamol.Procedure How does the procedure work? A treatment always begins with a free, no-obligation consultation. Below, we describe the next steps of a clitoral hood reduction. Upon arrival, you check in at the reception. The doctor may have prescribed medication in advance, which you have already picked up from the pharmacy and brought to the clinic. If prescribed, you will take the medication at the clinic and receive a numbing cream with instructions. The numbing cream helps to reduce the sensation of the anesthetic injections. Feel free to relax with a cup of coffee or tea, as the cream takes about 45 minutes to take effect. This is why we ask you to arrive earlier. Next, the assistant will escort you from the waiting area to the treatment room. There, you can remove your lower clothing. The medical team will be ready for you. You will be asked to stand in front of the chair while the doctor takes the before-photo. Any remaining questions will be answered, and the procedure will be briefly discussed. You will then take a seat in the chair, and the procedure will begin. You will be covered with a sterile drape, and a few small injections will be given to locally numb the area. After the procedure, you will move to another room where you will lie down for about 30 minutes for observation. If everything is fine, you can then go home. Before and after Labiaplasty + clitoral hood reduction Labiaplasty + clitoral hood reduction Labiaplasty + clitoral hood reduction Recovery and aftercare Recovery after clitoral hood reduction Following post-operative care instructions carefully is crucial for a smooth and speedy recovery. This includes avoiding intense physical activities for several weeks after the procedure. Aftercare clitoral hood reduction Driving We strongly advise against driving yourself after the procedure. Depending on your recovery, you may be able to drive again within a few days to a week. Aspirine, Ibuprofen and Paracetamol In the first few days, you may take two Paracetamol (500 mg) tablets every 4-6 hours. As the pain decreases, you can reduce this to one Paracetamol (500 mg) tablet every 4-6 hours. If needed, you may also take Ibuprofen (400 mg) alongside Paracetamol. Any additional medication or pain relief should be taken only as prescribed by your doctor. Cooling It is advisable to cool the area for 10-15 minutes every hour during the first few days using an ice pack, which we provide you with. Always place a clean cloth or gauze between the ice pack and your skin. Towel We recommend sitting on a tightly rolled-up towel as much as possible for the first three days after the procedure. This acts as a compression bandage to help minimize swelling. Resting It is very important to take one full week of rest after the procedure. Make sure someone is available to assist you if needed. Showering You can shower with the stitches. We recommend rinsing the wound gently twice a day using the showerhead. Ensure the water is not too hot to prevent excessive bleeding. Avoid hot baths for 4-6 weeks, as they can increase swelling. Exercise and physical activity We strongly advise against exercising or engaging in any strenuous physical activity for the first 4-6 weeks after the procedure. Sexual intercourse We recommend avoiding sexual intercourse for at least six weeks after the procedure. Engaging in sex too soon can cause excessive friction and increase the risk of infection. Urination Rinse the area briefly with water after urinating to maintain hygiene. Work Heavy physical work should be avoided for at least the first four weeks after the procedure. Menstruation We advise against using tampons for the first six weeks after the procedure. Instead, use sanitary pads and rinse gently with the showerhead twice a day. You can also opt for menstrual underwear, which absorbs menstrual blood and light urinary leakage, eliminating the need for tampons or pads. Moodies Undies offers a wide range of menstrual underwear. Follow-up appointments Two weeks after the procedure, you will have your first follow-up appointment at the clinic, during which the stitches will be removed. After 5-6 months, you will return for your final check-up with your treating doctor, where it will be determined if any further correction is necessary. Clitoral hood reduction results Do not expect immediate results after a clitoral hood reduction. In the first few weeks, the treated area may feel tight or swollen, which is completely normal. After a few weeks, the swelling and bruising will subside, and you will start to see visible results. However, the final result will only be fully visible after several months, when the labia naturally integrate with your body. Curious about your options? Schedule a free, no-obligation consultation.
